AI slop refers to the massive, low-quality, and often deceptive content—text, images, and video—generated by artificial intelligence that is flooding digital platforms. Coined in the 2020s, it is viewed as a form of, and successor to, spam, often used to create quick, cheap engagement and advertising revenue.
