Salman Rushdie
In 1989, after publishing the novel 'The Satanic Verses', Salman Rushdie was forced into anonymity. The work was considered offensive to the Prophet Muhammad, and Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, the leader of Iran, ordered all 'zealous Muslims' to attempt to assassinate the writer. Pedro Bial talks to the writer, who currently lives in New York.
