Germany is one of the most important destination countries for counterfeit goods in Europe. The trade in counterfeit goods is booming—especially in clothing and accessories. But most dangerous of all are counterfeit medications. The trade in fake medications has become extremely lucrative. In some cases, it is even more profitable than the drug trade. This investigative documentary traces the paths of counterfeit brand-name products and medications, uncovers production facilities, and exposes the criminal networks behind them. Laboratory tests show that counterfeit medications can be harmful to consumers’ health. In some cases, they can even be life-threatening.
