Why Switzerland Rejects Strict Neutrality
Swiss voters rejected by more than 70% a proposal from right-wing conservatives to enshrine “strict neutrality” in the Constitution. The move would have prevented Switzerland from imposing sanctions on Russia over its invasion of Ukraine. Despite the Kremlin’s involvement in the debate, voters backed limits to neutrality.
