Michael O'Halloran

Biography

Michael O’Halloran is an award-winning Australian film director. A graduate of QUT’s Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film and Television, he has built a reputation for cinematic storytelling, visual flair, and tightly paced narratives.

His early short films screened at a wide range of festivals both nationally and internationally, where they received multiple accolades. More recently, his short-form work gained recognition with an ARIA Award nomination for Best Video in 2024 for directing Platinum-selling Budjerah’s Is It Ever Gonna Make Sense.

In 2025, Michael’s debut feature film, SPACE/TIME, was released in Australia and New Zealand through Umbrella Entertainment, playing to sold-out audiences and reaching number 3 on the Apple Sci-Fi chart in its opening weekend. It was released in North America and worldwide via Epic Pictures in early 2026.

Alongside his feature work, Michael has contributed across multiple stages of the filmmaking process, including as Editor on SPACE/TIME and Post-Production Supervisor for the Stan Original film WINDCATCHER. He is currently in financed development on a new feature film which he is co-writing, directing, and producing.

Michael also maintains a strong body of work in television commercials and corporate campaigns, delivering projects for clients ranging from global brands like Baskin Robbins and TechnologyOne to major institutions such as the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Department of Justice and Inland Rail.
